Gourmet Golf-School Holiday Fun
Port Stephens’ budding young golfers and master chefs once again attended a ‘Gourmet Golf Event’ at Pacific Dunes yesterday, Tuesday 22nd September.
Once again this fun, kids event was well received and completely booked out with 40 participants, aged 6-12, both girls and boys, from the local area as well as Sydney and everywhere in-between.
Starting the day in the Lake View Marquee, the kids helped our Head Chef, Sheldon Black to mix the batter for their cupcake creations.
Whilst the cupcakes were baking in the oven, the kids were split into two groups and Pacific Dunes’ Assistant Director of Golf Mark Alison & Pacific Dunes PGA Trainee Professional Eli Richardson coached the kids on golf skills and ensured they had a ‘ball’ on both the driving range and the tennis courts.
Upon returning to the marquee, to the sweet smell of freshly baked vanilla cupcakes and tables covered in colourful icing toppings and various lollies, the kids were sent into an excited spin! When given the word to decorate their generously sized cupcakes, the kids took off- showcasing their very creative skills in the icing and decorating department.
From the moment the children were dropped off, to when they were enjoying their cupcakes or staying on for a more substantial lunch in The Dunes Cafe & Bar, the fun and energy from the kids and staff was most enjoyable, a great way to start the school holidays!
As a great introduction to the basic skills for golf, all of the children have been encouraged to join the teaching staff (there are 3
PGA Members teaching) at Pacific Dunes on Wednesday afternoons, for the junior clinic (which continues through the school holidays):
